Forty Days: Day 40

Mommy bought me a TOEFL iBT book, the one published by Kaplan. It’s complete with 2 audio CDs and a practice test CD. It says on the cover, “High score guaranteed! Or your money back!” LOL at that. :)

Looking back on my previous posts, I can say that my forty days have been a variety. I ate a lot of good food, fell in love with durian, got tired a lot, switched from being sane to being a fangirl then to being sane again, met inspiring professors, graduated from college the second time, and received a medal. All of these—in a span of forty days.

A Blessed Palm Sunday to everyone!

Forty Days: Day 39

“Be my lab rat! Hope we’ll succeed in our experiment together,” said Tere on Facebook, Sat. 6:09am. :)

Forty Days: Day 38

I learned from Facebook that Brylee, our highschool valedictorian just got a score of 105 in TOEFL iBT. That was really high since he only needed 79!  All he’s needing now is a student visa and he’d be set to go on July. He will take his Ph.D at University of Houston and teach Chemistry at the same time. All expenses will be covered. That’s how great he is! I PM-ed him on YM and inquired about the TOEFL since I’ll be taking it also this year. He just told me to read the book by Kaplan. So the next time I drop by a bookstore, I will be looking for that book.

Forty Days: Day 37

At last, I was able to touch our piano again! I haven’t played it forever! I tried to play Kim Dong Wook’s “My Heart is Calling” from “You’re Beautiful” soundtrack. Oh crap, what a difficult piece!

Just when I was about to completely give up my dream of attending the SuJu concert, Jens texted me! She’s inviting me to go with her. Damn! I’m being a little fangirl again! No, stop. This isn’t right. LOL. There’s a time for that, and that is when I’m in the States already, employed and earning dollars! $-)

Forty Days: Day 36

LOL. I would be lying if I’d say it isn’t obvious that my mom’s too proud of me. She just told everyone on the phone that I’m the best intern. Anyway, I’m so lucky. Not all parents are proud of their children. :)

This morning, Kuya and I assembled the monobloc table which I used to study on for the local board exam. I’m gonna use it again, this time for FPGEE. Gotta study real hard mannn!!

Forty Days: Day 35

Goodbye, Ovada. Hello, Manila!

Mommy and I went home to our province tonight! Kuya picked us up from the airport together with K.Mario. It was Mommy’s first ride in Cebu Pacific. It was a good ride but PAL experience will always be better. But thanks to Cebu Pacific Cargo, we saved more than half of what they would charge us if we were to check in our excess baggage of 44 kilos. FYI, I just brought home 18 kilos of books! Hope I’ll have the strength to read them all.

We also brought home a box of mangosteens and pomelos, and two durians! We also brought home a crab dish from New Asia Restaurant in Ovada. Mommy and I had lunch there and we thought of bringing home something for Kuya, and that something was crab.

And oh, before I forget, Happy Birthday, Mommy! I know you’re happy that I’m your daughter, but I’m even happier that you’re my mom. You’re my inspiration. I love you very much! :)

Forty Days: Day 34

Not even a year ago (March 26, 2009), I was walking down this school hallway in Ovada, still lost and confused. I was about to graduate then from my 4-year BS Pharmacy course in my university in Manila. We just took a visit in Ovada to take a look at the school and consider the chances of me studying here for yet another year. I never really wanted to study here. What I wanted at that time was to go straight to the U.S. or stay in the country and take up Medicine. Studying in Ovada was so out of the plan. Now, as I’m walking down this hallway again, no longer am I lost or confused. I’m just so confident and thankful that I made the right decisions. Thanks to Dean Eva, the gates are open. Everything’s up to me now.

Meet Auie, the Red Doggie!

Auie, the Red Doggie!

Because we’re already flying back home tomorrow, Goldie gave Audrey and me a farewell gift. To Audrey, she gave little Breadou, and to me, she gave a red stuffed doggie which from now on I will call Auie!

Have I really been kind? Last week, Ate Inday told me that because I’m the kindest tenant in the dorm, the landlady won’t anymore charge Mommy a transient fee. Now she won’t let me pay the electricity! :)
