Letters to Camp #1: Thanksgiving

Dearest Aika,

Happy Thanksgiving! How are you? PK posted your address on Facebook. She said you’d be graduating from the boot camp on January. Best of luck!

It was my first day of work at Ross last Tuesday. Have I told you I applied at Ross Dress for Less as a part-time retail associate? They’re the ones who recover items and put them back on the shelves. They also move clothes from the stock room to the racks, and they also do the cash register sometimes.

Last Tuesday, I was assigned at the towels department so all I had to do was fold them nicely and neatly and put them back on the shelves. Yesterday, I was at the ladies’ shoes and kids’ department. They haven’t trained me on the cash register yet, but I hope they will eventually.

Happy 5th Birthday, Dear Daddy.

Happy 5th birthday, dear Daddy.

How you’ve been doing, I’d love to hear.
Wherever you are now, I suppose you’re happy.

Is it true that it is beautiful up there?

Or, rather, is it true that it is really “up there?”

Are there houses? Did Bro give you a big one?

By the way, how did you get there?
Did you cross a tunnel, or climb some stairs?
Did you fly?

Did you enter a gate?
Did you see a “blinding” light?

And were you actually blinded by it?

By looking at it, did it hurt your eyes?
If so, would that refute the fact that pain, in there, does not exist?

Have five years been enough for you to master the “city?”

When my time comes, would you tour me around?

Until then, please just pray for me.

Happy 5th birthday, dear Daddy.

A Fan’s Letter to a Star (and vice-versa)

Note: This fan is not me.

April 21, 2010

Dear Star,

Hello!!! My name is Jenny, and I’m 13 years old. I know that by the time you read this, you’ve already opened a million of other fan letters, but I don’t care! What’s important is that you’re reading my handwritten message right now, at this very moment! That fact alone is enough to make me jump for joy!

I’m sure you’ve already heard this gazillions of times before, but let me just repeat it myself: You are soooo amazing!!!

Once upon a time, I was so down and depressed and didn’t know what to do when I turned on the TV. And then I saw you! You were singing a Disney song on “Star King!” and you were soooo amazing!!! At once, my mood was uplifted! Ever since that fateful day, I’ve been looking at you as an inspiration. That’s how great you are to me!

All your albums are awesome. When I’m tired or stressed, your voice alone is enough to keep me going. Just listening to your songs makes me believe that someone out there understands how I feel, that someone out there is willing to care. It’s like your voice whispering to my ear, telling me that everything’s gonna be okay.

One time, I read a bit of you and learned that you and I have a lot of things in common. I love computers too! And like you, I’m fond of cats too! I also love swimming and badminton, and most of all, I’m also a fan of Jason Mraz! What a great coincidence! It’s just so nice to know that a star as big as you are shares a lot of common interests with a simple fangirl like me.

To be honest, there are times when I feel that I’m not just a mere fangirl anymore, that I’ve gone beyond that, and that I’m already oh so in love with you! When I come to the right age, I swear to myself, I’m so gonna marry you! Sorry to say this, but it really broke my heart when I saw you with another girl on “MNET Scandal.”

Oh crap, I still have 8 more Algebra problems to solve. Hmmm… I still have lots of things to say, but I think that’s all for now. I promise I will write again very soon! I have an exam on Friday. Could you please pray for me? I’m getting such low grades lately, and it really upsets me. Oh well, never mind, I’m sure my exam will have long been over when you get the chance to read this. I’ll just think of your handsome face, do some spazzing, and blow my troubles away. Forget Algebra!

I will look forward to hearing more of your music! It would be nice if you could write me back, but it’s okay if you won’t. I understand that you’re very busy right now and it’s bad for you to be overstressed. Keep healthy. I’ll continue praying for you every night. You take care always, okay? God bless you! Hwaiting!

Love,

Fan

PS: I’m serious about marrying you! I love you! XOXO

Dear Fan,

Hi, Jenny! Awww, thank you so much for your wonderful message! Yeah, I’ve got other fan letters, and there are lots of them, but I try really hard to read everything one by one. That’s my way of thanking you, fans, for your endless support.

I am amazing? Wow. You have no idea how much that means to me. I promise to work harder so that people could enjoy my music even more. The messages I’m receiving nowadays really do paint a smile on my face especially at this moment when my vocal cords are exhausted and I’m hurting all over from my dance practices. Just reading your kind words takes all the pain away.

Yeah, I love cats and computers, badminton and swimming, and Jason Mraz… He is my hero! Like you, I’m a simple fanboy too!

If I counted correctly, yours is the 16th marriage proposal I’ve encountered this day. He He He! Thank you for all the love and support. I really appreciate it. But as a mature young adult, I must say that you’re still young and there’s so much more you may want to accomplish. There are also a lot of people you’re still going to meet. I love all my fans, and fans should love each other too, so don’t feel bad when you see me with some other fan in “MNET Scandal.” It’s just a program that is meant to entertain. Please don’t take it too seriously.

Judging by your letter, it seems that you spend more time “spazzing” about me than doing your assignments. Being a fan is fine because it’s just one way of expressing a person’s deep appreciation towards another person’s skills and capabilities, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, there has to be a reasonable limit to it. If you tend to ignore your studies just to “spazz” about me, then you’re not doing anyone any favour. Neither you nor I would benefit from that. I hope you understand that I’m saying all this because I care about you. Yeah, I really do. And I don’t want to be the cause of your demise.

Don’t worry, Algebra is not hard at all. It was actually my most favorite subject in high school. Here’s a tip: Pay attention to the teacher during class no matter how boring or dull he/she is, and when you get home, do your assignments at once while the lesson’s still fresh in your memory. Trust me, it really works!

The fact that you took time out of your day to write to me truly means a lot. The great number of letters I’m receiving lately makes it so difficult to write back on time, and my very busy schedule only permits me to write back to a random few. Sorry for the very late response. If only I had all the time in the world, then I would personally write each of you a letter.

Again, thanks so much for all the love and support. Take care also, and may God bless you more. I’ll pray that you do well in your exams not just in Algebra, but in other subjects as well. I’m sure you can do it! Hwaiting!

Love,

Star

PS: If you really are serious about marrying me, then we’ll see in God’s time. For now, you should study well, finish college, establish a career, and focus on your life. I love all my fans, and they all are important to me. YOU are important to me.

YouTube sucks!

Dear YouTube,

Hello! I am The Silent Spectator, the owner of YouTube account ********.

I’m writing to express that I feel really bad that you deleted my video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=***********) because of “copyright infringement” when in fact everything that existed in that video was purely and solely mine. It was just me playing the piano. Nothing else!

I didn’t use any clips from KBS America, Inc., so I can’t understand why they had to file a copyright claim in the first place. Moreover, there were three of us who uploaded our own piano videos of the same song but you only deleted mine!

I’ve been uploading piano covers on YouTube for almost two years now, and the one that was deleted was no different from all of the other videos. They were all just piano covers. I didn’t add any clips or pics (except for my “Happy Birthday, Kyuhyun” video) or original tracks or anything that wasn’t my own.

Therefore, I believe I didn’t infringe any copyright at all, and that you made a big mistake of deleting my video! Anyway, thank you for reading my message.

Sincerely yours,

The Silent Spectator

PS: You suck. =p

Dear Diary

December 19, 2009 (06:54)

Dear Diary,

The year’s about to end, so I bought you. Not for myself though, but for a friend. She’s got a lot of thoughts in mind. Maybe she could use you to write them down.

Don’t worry, this friend writes really well. And she always has lots of stories to tell. By the end of the coming year, your pages will definitely not be empty anymore.

So goodbye, dear diary. I’m now handing you over to a friend. Take care of her secrets, and treat her as a friend too.

For now, please say hello to your new owner, Kpop Lover. The next stories will be hers. ☺

Love,

The Silent Spectator

(That was what I wrote on the first page of the silver diary I gave to Kpop Lover before I left for the airport.)

Dear Goldie,

You’re one of the sweetest persons I know. Hope you’ll never change. I’m really grateful that we crossed paths again in Ovada since we were never close way back in college. Thanks for being so nice to me. I was really touched when you came into our room one night just to share your dream (about “him”) with me.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Friends forever!

Love,

The Silent Spectator

PS: I’m sure you’ll receive a greeting from “him” this Christmas! And I’m looking forward to visiting your blog soon! ☺

Dear Unni,

You may not know it but I’ve learned a lot of things from you. I love my profession now more than before, and you contributed greatly to that. It’s just amazing how everything you say makes a lot of sense. You’re one of my inspirations. I will always look up to you. Thanks for all the help!

Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year!

I “heart” you! ♥
